“Rain” is track 3 off the first album “Anywhere” by Chris Hart.

Rain is a mellow, folky song about learning to love my new home in London, and the little drawbacks that come with it. I wrote it maybe 2 weeks after the move and the lyrics are all completely true. I was out walking after getting a haircut in the neighborhood and all of the sudden the skies opened and started pouring on me, but the sun was shining bright and black cabs and double decker buses were going by, and I couldn't help but fall in love with the whole thing. It's not the first time I've been rained on, of course, but It felt different to me because I was in a new place that we worked really hard to get to. We'd done what we thought may be impossible and completely changed our lives.

I walked home slowly, took a video to remember it, and I wrote in my lyric notes, "I've learned to love the rain".

Musically, I wanted to keep things simple, campfire vibes, lush vocal harmonies and ambient slide guitar and dobro, all set to a steady finger-plucked acoustic guitar backbone that keeps the song constantly on track. It’s a song for people out of place, but making it work. Finding the beauty in your current situation and making the best of it. It’s about changing perspective and taking things as they are.
